The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has released the record of 47 US senators who have decided to co-sponsor a bill to impose additional sanctions against Iran.
The sanctions bill, presented by Sens. Mark Kirk and Robert Menendez on Dec. 19, initially had the support of 24 other senators similarly divided between Democrats and Republicans.
The White House was quick to condemn the measure at the time, saying President Barack Obama would veto the bill “if it were to pass” Congress.
Senator Cory Booker, newly elected Democrat from New Jersey, quickly added his name to the list and since then, 20 other senators — all Republicans — have added their names, according Lobelog.com.
Fifty three senators, including 36 Democrats and two independents who normally vote with the Democratic caucus, have not agreed to co-sponsor the sanctions bill, making them “the top targets for AIPAC’s legendary powers of persuasion when the Senate reconvenes early next week.”
“What is remarkable about this list, however, is that very few of the 47 co-sponsors have chosen to publicize their support for the bill to their constituents through local media or other means,” writes American journalist Jim Lobe in his report.
President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have repeatedly stated that the passage of a new sanctions bill would not only violate the spirit, if not the letter, of the interim nuclear deal, it would also cast serious doubt on Washington’s “good faith” in negotiations.
The new anti-Iran initiative in the Senate is at odds with the most recent assessment by the US intelligence community which has concluded that “new sanctions would undermine the prospects for a successful comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran.”
Tehran has warned that any new sanctions against Iran would kill “the entire deal” reached between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in Geneva on November 24.
Deals like this & the slimy secretive way in which they’re done sickens me no matter who is power, the duopoly now held in ALL western nations will be the downfall of us all.
We voters are the ONLY people who can change this hideous path they have us on, now no-one should tell another who to vote for BUT until people realise we are condemning ourselves by perpetuating this duopoly we are headed towards DISASTER, the warning signs are flashing all around for us to see BUT time truly is running out.

These Senators are treacherous in the extreme and are traitors to their own country. They have shown their true colours. They are bought and paid for by AIPAC and support anything and everything that Israel wants regardless of whether or not such wants are inimical to the best interests of America. A peaceful resolution of the Iran nuclear power matter is in the best interests of the US and this is exactly what Israel and these Senate perverts don’t want.

The American people are largely underinformed, uninformed or misinformed on Iran and sanctions. Sanctions, particularly those that target a civilian population, are an act of war and are usually counterproductive. Americans have witnessed first hand how a very small group or even one person can bring the country to its knees. As the US government publicly worries about Iran developing a nuclear weapons capability, informed observers know that Iran does not need a nuclear weapon to cripple the US. for decades to come. For example; the nation’s power grid is essential for American society to function but it is particularly vulnerable to attack and largely unprotected. The US government has been and still is creating a society dependent on the government. If & when there is any disruption to the ” safety net ” programs;
welfare, food stamps, unemployment compensation, etc. that keep the population under control, the disaffected will turn on the government like a pack of wild animals. Iran does not need a nuclear weapon to accomplish this. Now consider that US sanctions have devalued the Iranian currency, increased inflation and severely damaged the Iranian economy. Some people believe that more US sanctions will encourage elements inside Iran to return the kindness. ” Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Well said Michael, just imagine if people followed your well quoted proverb, do unto others, the world would truly have hope again.
Alas, the problem now is people are becoming more greedy & corrupt as taught to them by the powers that be, it’s hard to even consider how we will ever correct this fiasco so our kids & grandkids don’t bare the brunt of it, heads MUST roll !
