Narrow-minded perspective, but still interesting.
They assume ALL life needs water because they found life on this planet, which is full of water, to need it. Life in deserts on a water-filled world probably evolved to need water. It may be different on alien worlds though. If these scientists believe in evolution, wouldn't it make equal sense to assume a life form could evolve to live on a world without water? assuming other required life supports are there. I think so.
Whether you believe life evolves to survive in its environment, or life was created in its environment because it was made to survive there, I think it makes sense that a world could exist without water, yet support an alien life form.
WHAT ABOUT FINDING A NEW ANIMAL THAT YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL OFF, perhaps THE HILLARY ANIMAL ONE THAT FEEDS ON 20 DOLLAR BILLS AND HIGHER?
Going for an earth like planet, water and oxygen would be needed to support life like ours.
But couldn't an alien species breath carbon dioxide like a plant? Also couldn't they not need water?
Aliens don't need an earth like planet f we don't even know how they'd function. I know there are a lot of comments like this, but honestly, it's not a lie.
Water and Oxygen isn't needed if they don't drink or don't breath oxygen.
Or they could live fine on scorching or freezing planets.
Basically we don't know anything.

That guy doesn't know anything. The Sun is not yellow. It is white.
Don't forget, the Kepler Telescope could only detect planets in planetary systems where we are looking pretty much edge-on at their orbital plane. There are countless other systems where we are looking at them from an angle high above their orbital plane, and even if there were planets there, there would be no transits to detect.
I can't wait until the James Webb Space Telescope goes online. With that telescope, we will be able to directly image exoplanets. Way cool!

to me finding 100 inhabitant planets doesn't prove that there is no creator
the only way to prove that is if they go out in space and recreate the big bang(ie the circumstances that made the big bang happen)
or for that matter who says that space itself is not something that had to happen separately
space and time is like the canvas for the painting of the universe
so technically you are supposed to be able to make more of space like you should be able to make trillions of miles of space and millions of years in time that fit it in your closet and when you feel like it go into your closet and visit the universe that you made happen.
if the scientists are right. then the universe maybe just a science project of a 10 year old for a being in a super super advanced civilization and all the gazillions of miles in space is in a 2 foot by 2 foot box and if that 10 year decides to dispose of it then we just maybe somewhere in a dump of a super advanced civilization

or you can choose to believe that just as its impossible to go outside of nature's laws and rules there clearly is allot of nature rules. so are there more advanced devine rules and there is a real system and processes beyond death and life
