Impeaching Obama Should “Absolutely” Be On The Table – Allen West

There’s a great deal of debate amongst Republicans and other conservatives about whether Republicans in Congress should prepare to impeach Obama. One view holds that it’s a good way to get Obama out of the White House.

Opponents of this view point out that this puts Biden in the White House, which means going from frying pan to fire. They also point out that despite the scandal overload in Washington D.C., whether one is talking about IRS agents targeting conservative groups and individuals; the Justice Department bugging Associated Press telephone calls or calling a Fox journalist a co-conspirator in treasonous activity; or the Obama White House being mysteriously absent while Americans died at Al Qaeda’s hands in Libya, there is no smoking gun tying any scandal directly to Obama himself. Obama has certainly denied any connection to or even knowledge of any of these scandals.

This doesn’t mean, though, that Republicans and conservatives should entirely abandon the notion of impeaching a president who is presiding over what may be one of the most scandal-ridden administrations in American history. Former Florida Congressman Allen West certainly believe that all options, including impeachment, should be “on the table.”

While Sen. James Inhofe (R., Okla.) has been focusing attention on the administration’s cover-up after the Benghazi attack, when it pretended that a video caused a spontaneous mob to move on the embassy, West, a former Army Colonel, says that Obama’s decision to abandon Americans to their fate in Benghazi constituted an egregious failure of his obligation as Commander in Chief:

We did something that is the most heinous thing that can ever happen, we abandoned Americans while they were under attack, you know that’s right up there to ask someone, maybe you should not be the president. Guess what, Richard Nixon stepped down over breaking and entering.

What do you think? Will our country be better served by attempting impeachment against Obama (which runs the dual risk of turning him into a martyr and putting Joe Biden in the White House) or are we better served by standing up for principle and trying to make Obama pay for his practical and moral failings as America’s chief executive officer?
