What we are facing on planet Earth

D.M. Murdock

According to various predictions by numerous people, including many scientists, the following is a list of problems we humanity as a whole are facing, both now in many places as well as in the future in others. Many of these potential disasters are overdue, and some are already occurring.

  • Economic meltdown
  • Epidemics
  • Super-volcanic eruptions
  • Megaquakes
  • Tsunamis
  • Sea level rise
  • Solar flares
  • Meteor/asteroid/comet strikes
  • Climate change, either runaway global warming and greenhouse effect, or an ice age
  • Mass extinction of flora and fauna
  • Water shortages
  • Drought and desertification
  • Crop failures
  • Famine
  • Pollution
  • Nuclear disasters
  • Structural meltdown from lack of repair, including highways and other roads, bridges, dams and assorted buildings
  • Peak oil
  • Battles over resources
  • Religious and racial strife
  • Etc., ad nauseam

What are the solutions? In some instances, such as natural disasters, there is little we can do to prevent them, but we can, of course, prepare for them as best as is possible. In my opinion, one solution for much of the rest of this mess is widespread and immediate use of the hemp plant. Other natural resources replacing petroleum products are being developed as well, such as various plants for car parts.

In order to meet this challenge, we need to act immediately, including throwing off ideological, political, philosophical and religious notions that blind and bind us, preventing us from working together to achieve these goals of salvaging civilization. Humanity is so intransigent in its (often erroneous) belief systems that I pessimistically hold out little hope, except the hope that I am wrong.
