I never liked the Cosby show because i couldn't relate to it. Nothing on that show came across to me as being reality, but as a false depiction of how Black families live. How many Black families have two successful parents in their household as portrayed on that show? Not one family member has a criminal record. Not one family member has health issues (High blood pressure, diabetes etc..) including the grandparents. They have White and Japanese friends. come on! Give me a fucking break. The Huxtables are nothing but an isolated Black family from another planet.

I disagree with the analysis of Geoffrey and Hillary from the Fresh Prince. The reference of Master to the YOUNGER members of the family is a staple of house order in BRITISH aristocray for centuries when it came to servitude. the underage family members were always referred to in this manner as a sign of respect to the head of the household as the heirs. Geoffrey was a Black Briton(not African Ametican) so the references don't hold the sway the way black people in the US automatically think the do. He never referred to Phil or Vivian as Master even though they were technically his bosses/masters as the head of the household. Hillary was a victim of the valley girl culture of the 80s-90s which is not intellectually inclined, vain and materialistic which is why she was the way she was. had nothing to do with here being black ad her friends were the same way as they all were part of the same culture.

Part of a sitcom is dysfunction. Doesn't matter what sitcom you look at & you always have the dumb character. That doesn't mean is promoting stupid or dysfunction. Look at Full House, Boy Meets World, Seinfeld, Friends, Frasier, list goes on and on. Just look at any sitcom ever made in any language, any country, any race & you'll find dysfunction and that one "dumb nigga".
Guess what… That's what makes a sitcom funny in the first place. Without the comedic relief of dysfunction and at least one silly clown-like character then it's not a sitcom, it's not funny.
Those shows were actually good for Black people because they ended every episode on a good moral lesson. It's damn sure better than these Black wife reality shows out now. One thing about some black sitcoms is that they dropped hints of who the real Israelites are. Like the scene on Good Times when Michael exposed the white 'Jesus' and showed Florida in the bible that Jesus is a black man. And another exposure on Sanford Sons of Aunt Esther telling Fred that he was a Jew. Hollywood was good at doing that. It kind of felt like they were mocking black people. Then years later the truth comes out.
They don't show these fathers for most of these athletes like LeBron because some don't know their fathers and some are not or never was in their lives.
