Camps struggle to help Mosul IDPs

(2 Mar 2017) Camps around western Mosul are struggling to accommodate the huge number of people fleeing the fighting as Iraqi forces continue to battle Islamic State militants for control of the city.
In a camp in Hamam al-Alil, just south of western Mosul, some 15-thousand people arrived over the past few days, camp manager, Sajida al-Jibouri, said.
The camp was clearly struggling to accommodate the arrivals, with little water, poor sanitation and too few blankets and other household items for the IDPs (internally displaced persons).
The United Nations said on Thursday that the number of displaced people had reached 28,400 and three camps to the south of the city were now full.
