It might be time to sweep the cobwebs out of that old nuclear bunker at the bottom of the garden after reports in state-run Chinese media confirmed that the People’s Liberation Army is actively developing an intercontinental missile capable of penetrating US defences.
News first emerged of the planned ‘super missile’ from defence industry bible Jane’s Defence Weekly last week, according to South China Morning Post.
It apparently claimed that a Dongfeng-41 (DF-41) intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), had been fired in testing last month by the PLA’s Second Artillery Corps.
This third-generation missile, US military sources told Jane’s, contain multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRVs) – effectively multiple warheads – meaning they would be almost impossible for current US defences to take down.
A report in Global Times, the populist sister title of Communist Party mouthpiece the People’s Daily, apparently confirmed such a rocket was in development, quoting local military expert Wei Guoan.
However, he denied it had been fired already in testing and claimed it was not a DF-41.
Recognising the potential threat from China and North Korea, the US is strategically ramping up its military presence in Asia, after years of focus on the Middle East during the Bush administration.
It’s planning to increase its anti-missile defences in the region which could include extra tracking radar, land-based intercept vehicles and missile-defence ships, according to a Wall Street Journal article
I wonder how much of that $100 billion made it’s way into the bank accounts of some Politicians who are directly linked or owed to from defence contractors.
When will realise that whilever we continue to support this ridiculous two political party system in the western world our very survival is at risk.
We find ourselves in this current pathetic world because we have enabled the totally wrong people into this two party which has virtually now become one no matter where you look in the western world.
Nothing will change unless we as voters we do !

And just think taxpayers the government spent over 100 Billion on star wars which was supposed to stop this exact threat (from the Soviets). And yet after more than 100 Billion star wars is a complete failure. Except of course for the defense contractors that managed to make nearly 30% profit over nearly more than 2 decades. That is over 30 BILLION in profits for something that has never worked.
The American government simply cannot put two and two together. If this Chinese development is problem for them, it is one made in America. Just what did you expect the Chinese government to do when the media is full of stories about how the US will surround China with nuclear submarines and naval ships to curtail its activities in its own area of influence. They are not Grenada, They simply will not accept US supremecy where it could affect them or their plans. To date they have not been starting wars all over the world as the US has so you can’t blame them for death and destruction like you can the US. The relationship with both China and Russia is controlled by US policies. Currently the US demands full spectrum dominance. It is not going to have it but in the meantime this very foolish and over reaching policy creates the basis for friction, friction that could become a shooting war. Once more “made in the USA”!
Wow the Chinese have developed a ICBM with MRIV technology! You mean likethe ones the US has deployed for decades. No matter what they do the Chinese leasdership know that a nuclear war will leave virtually everyone dead; even with McDonalds population i.e. billions. :0
One can always hope that the Chinese will wipe out “the Great Satan”!
Then the rest of us human beings can put an end to “the Small Satan”, Occupied Palestine, and bring peace to our planet.
