Awe inspiring stuff, so well conceived and executed. I hope London 2012 can achieve a similar level of theatre and spectacle. And of course a stunning Orchestral accompanying score by Christopher Gordon!

One thing I love from opening ceremonies of multi-sports events: they always show the best of the host countries

I remember that very moment of the opening ceremony, and they had a large viewing area of the wonderful fish water features alongside the Yarra, Absolute magic. Such wonderful memories. :')

This opening ceremony was far superior to the London Olympics. More of theatric characters , and i was emabarresed to watch ( and me not being English !!!!!) I do not know what their concept was , Cricket, sick beads, some workers pulling chains…. OMG….

You seem to have missed the part with the industrial revolution, remembrance of both World Wars, women's suffrage movement. All other references were made as an allusion to popular culture. Cricket is an English sport, genius.

I am embarrassed* that you're representing Australia on the internet.
