Guns for Beyonce tickets? If one hip-hop mogul has his way, it could be true.

The New York Daily News reports that Michael “Blue” Williams, president of Family Tree Entertainment and manager to acts like Cee-Lo Green and Outkast, has plans to offer goods like Beyonce concert tickets to New Yorkers willing to hand in their firearms. Williams is hoping to raise $100,000 for his “Guns for Greatness” program and get the support of the New York Police Department.

“The Beyonce show is coming to Brooklyn; the Jay-Z show is coming to Yankee Stadium,” the 43-year-old Bronx native told the Daily News on Monday. “Our goal is to reach out to individuals who are in my industry, in my world and who I have an association with and get their support. I think we should all work together to help get guns off the streets.”

Beyonce’s “Mrs. Carter Show” world tour will stop at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center in August, while Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake will hit Yankee Stadium on July 19 as part of their “Legends of Summer” tour.

Although neither camp has signed onto the project, Billboard reports that both Jay-Z and Beyonce were spotted on Feb. 9 at a pre-Grammy brunch honoring Williams’ late business partner, Chris Lighty, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in August.

The “Guns for Greatness” program has already received the support of at least one other celebrity:

Cities, including New York, typically offer guns for cash programs. But guns for Beyonce and Jay-Z tickets would surely be a step in a new direction.

According to a 2011 NYPD report, 61 percent of homicides that year were gun-related. Of those murdered, 62 percent were black males between the ages of 16 and 37.

Williams’ proposal certainly has targeted the right celebrity, as Beyonce has come out publicly in favor of stricter gun control.

After the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the 31-year-old singer joined Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm, Chris Rock and Conan O’Brien in the “Demand A Plan” public service announcement advocating on behalf of gun control legislation.
