Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano issued veiled threats, claiming that automatic budget cuts, known as sequestration, could trigger new terror attacks by reducing operations funds and delaying processing times ahead of March 1, when cuts begin.

The Secretary further warned that “the U.S. Border Patrol will be forced to furlough agents, costing nearly a quarter of the workforce,” while the White House threatened that illegal immigrants could flood the borders as a result (as they hypocritically mull a costly amnesty).

The intent of Napolitano’s speech to intimidate budget cuts with the threat of new attacks was clear, despite her claims to the contrary.

“I’m not here to scare people; I’m here to inform and let people begin to plan,” Napolitano stated. “I don’t think we can maintain the same level of security at all places around the country with sequester compared to without sequester.”

In a statement warning against cuts, Napolitano rattled off a laundry list of agencies that she claimed would be affected by sequestration, including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs & Border Protection, along with a vast array of other “security” functions the bloated agency oversees. As Adan Salazar noted, many Americans are in favor of cutting funds to the TSA, or eliminating the inept and unconstitutional agency altogether.

Napolitano further stated, “I think if you look at the combination of the effect on [the Department of Homeland Security], the Department of Justice and the Department of Defense, we are having real impacts on the robustness of our defensive posture.”

In reality, such budget cuts would never affect Homeland Security’s Continuity of Government programs (aided by secret, untouchable black budget funds). However, the cuts could be used as a pretext to punish travelers with increased wait times, slower travel, delayed flights and stifled free movement across the nation.

The invasive practices of the TSA have already triggered a severe decline in travel industry business, with many Americans and international visitors refusing to undergo the humiliating treatment supposedly conducted to stop would-be terrorists.

Clearly, this is yet another episode of shameless fear-mongering to protect the embryonic occupation government that Homeland Security, erected under the spectrum of 9/11 fear, represents.

  1. Gary you haven’t studied monetary science, banking, finance and economics You have no idea how international finance operates. There is absolutely no way that over a 16 trillion dollar national debt is going to be payed off by the unemployed, people working part time and people working for less money in the service and information econony and the bloated bureaucracy. The figures just don’t add up. The national debt is growing exponentially due to compound interest it is a sum that is impossible to pay. Do you even realize how much money that is? All the jobs that payed a living wage have been outsourced off shore. The way you create wealth is take raw materials and turn them into finished products. Without major reforms the U.S. is headed in a down hill race to the bottom. I would suggest that you stop being brain washed by the propaganda of the main stream news media and the rehortoric that comes out of Washington.

  2. The automatic budget cuts known as sequestration could not only trigger attacks from a flood of illegal immgrants accross the border but also from domestic terrorism from within the U.S it’sef because of pay cuts, job losses and reductions in social and entitlement programs.

There has been a series of econmic shocks since NAFTA and GATT which out-sourced the manufacturing jobs off-shore and the sub-prime mortgage collapse.

The U.S. is presetly in a double dip, double digit inflationary recession that is progressing into a full blown depression. Higher diesel and gas prices have been translating ino higher food prices. When gas reaches $5.00 a gallon that is going to be the straw that breaks the camels back.

The U.S. is collapsing from within.

Hey Janet, you don’t need 100% Gov Employees to help resolve potential Terrorism Plots. There are hundreds of Millions of law abiding citizens of the USA that would be happy to help the USA solve this problem using some of their free time. I’m hoping we cut the federal budget by at least 50% right now. We need to get people back to productive work efforts. Use money saved to invest in technology and eco solutions.
