It's pretty funny how that buisness model of: Buy more, get it cheaper, sell at high price resembles the model of selling drugs exactly.
I think that people sometimes get really desperate for the idea that it sells. "be your own marketer, your own boss" etc. I have people in my family who have been doing this shit for years, selling a kind of "premium health-water" (which is really just destilled water that has gone through magnetic coils) snake oil. one of them even got caught up in the "mary kay"-scheme in the early 2000's, did of course not earn any money from it whatsoever, and still doesn't see the connection between that and their brand new "idea". They started this shit years ago, and the fact that they believe in the bogus product doesn't really bother me that much anymore, but thinking that some fucking quack is earning millions of tricking my family is horrible. I would gladly donate money to some foundation that goes against these people.

I remember the STS phone card pyramid scheme that was shut down by state officials. When Walmart gets a cheaper product (such as AT&T phone cards) which they can buy in larger quantities than you'd ever be able to sell to replace the MLM's product and then they mass produce and sell it, your job in network marketing is dead.
