When Shang Shao went into labor, she was only seven months pregnant. Understandably frightened, she and the baby’s father, Pan Mai, rushed to the hospital. When they arrived, the doctor who reportedly met with them decided that she needed to have a C-section.

That was when it all went horribly wrong. Shang Shao was placed in a wheelchair and nurses rushed her toward the operating room. Without any other warning, the baby boy was born so quickly that he virtually fell out of her womb.

Unfortunately, what happened next was caught on the hospital’s CCTV cameras. Our more sensitive readers may not want to watch the disturbing footage below.

The newborn, his umbilical cord still attaching him to his mother, fell out of the wheelchair and onto the hospital floor as the group continued toward the operating room. CCTV footage shows the boy being dragged along by the umbilical cord for several feet before anyone notices the trail of blood on the floor behind them. At that moment, the medical staff rushed to the baby’s aid and got him to intensive care, but it was too late. The infant died from intracranial hematomas, which are rupturing of the tiny blood vessels between the brain and the infant’s tiny skull.

The doctor who ordered the C-section has reportedly been suspended. The nurses were disciplined for moving Shang Shao in a wheelchair, as well as demoted.

Not surprisingly, Pan Mai is looking into a lawsuit against the hospital.
