In April 2011, Barack Obama, president of the United States, took the extraordinary step of releasing the long-form version of his birth certificate. As the New York Times wrote at the time, the idea behind the move was “to finally end a long-simmering conspiracy theory among some conservatives who have asserted that he was not born in the United States and was not a legitimate president.”
The certificate proved that Obama was born in Hawaii.
Rachel Rose Hartman, a White House reporter for Yahoo! News, couldn’t possibly have missed the “birther” story. It was unavoidable, after all, for an unhealthy chunk of the president’s first term.
Yet: In her story yesterday on Obama’s Africa trip, Hartman managed to say that “he won’t be stopping in the country of his birth.” From the context of the story, it’s clear she was referring to Kenya. The Wrap captured the original text of the error (see below).
A birther-oriented mistake of this magnitude cannot possibly be finessed, ignored or Daily Callered. So Yahoo! News went ahead and published a properly placed correction, complete with a clever save:

The Erik Wemple Blog has a number of questions for Yahoo! Newsers:
1) How on earth?
2) Did someone forget that the president of the United States needs to be born in the United States (or fulfill other constitutional requirements)?*
3) Any editing over there?
A spokesperson for Yahoo! News, however, said that there would be no comment beyond the correction.

Here are six newspaper articles from various African newspapers, all stating as a fact that Barack Obama II was born in Kenya. Michelle Obama (Barack’s wife), Ambassador Ogego of Kenya, Barack Obama’s Kenyan grandmother, and the Parliament of Kenya have all acknowledged that Barack Obama was born in Kenya as well. Up until 2007, Barack Obama himself was evidently declaring in interviews to American newspapers that he was born in Kenya.
It is not possible to be a legitimate president of the US unless one is a “natural born citizen” of the US. Natural born does not mean the same thing as “native born”, however. “Natural born” means having two parents who are US citizens, without allegiance to any other country. Barack Obama declared himself to be not natural born, by declaring that his father was a citizen of Kenya. That alone means he has never been president of the US.
If Barack Obama had been born in Hawaii as claimed, he would be “native” born, but still not natural born. This is the so-called “anchor baby” defense. However it is no defense at all. It doesn’t matter whether one is “native” born, because that is not what the Constitution requires.
To be a legitimate president of the US, one must also not have allegiance to any other country. Barack Obama disqualified himself again on these grounds, by publishing a manifesto called “Dreams From My Father.” Note Obama’s dreams are from his father (a Kenyan politician), not from himself or even another American. This is why the “natural born” qualification is in the Constitution to begin with – the president’s allegiance must be purely to the US.
The articles above (and also evidence linked to below) demonstrate beyond any doubt that Barack Obama is neither native born nor natural born, nor is he of allegiance to United States alone (explaining incidentally why he will not salute the US flag). Therefore, there is no basis whatsoever upon which one may believe he is a legal president of the United States.
