I don't think money in itself is evil, but rather the way you earn it and utilize it. If you earn and spend it through evil means, then that is the path of corruption and the path of satan, whereas if you earn and spend money in the way of God, such as giving charity, giving knowledge etc, than you are on the path of purity and God. Money doesn't corrupt people, the way you earn and spend it does.
