This seems to be a documentary on human sacrifice, not religion. No thanks.

the title of this vid is misleading… as many have said before me in these comments, this is not about the dawn of religion… it should be called "ideas about religion – the last 5000 years" or something similar… disappointed…

I'm a Christian. I believe Jesus is the truth. God was born a man in the Son, Jesus Christ, atoned for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead! Those who trust and follow Jesus as their Savior and Lord, shall inhert the eternal life.

The dawn of religion? If only we had a time machine! We could go back and prevent the tragedy.

the camera close ups of Professor Ronald Hutton when he was simply explaining some historical observation was creepy AF, the sweaty lip and magnified pores of this learned professor was very weird, and often. What was the reason except a very amateur production. Otherwise this was a passable narrative and documentary, choppy but had some interesting subjects.

Terribly mislabeled. The dawn of religion would have started with the cavemen and a discussion about sympathetic magic, or animism, some form of belief related to the dawn (the beginning) of religion. Egyptians were far from the dawn of religion, at that point we could have talked about element, or nature worship, which came much before Egypt.

Not a total waste of time, but definitely not about the dawn of religion. We go from briefly speaking about ancient Egyptian sexuality to the present day with a very quick insert about the concept of floods. This doesn't at all talk about Hinduism or a specific religion that developed out of animalism (aside from ancient Egypt and I believe Hindu manuscripts came before that). So if you're looking to learn about the actual dawn of religion you need to look elsewhere. Just FYI.

It should be understood by any sincere student of religion that all religion today comes from two related yet absolutely opposing traditions, both of which came from Africa. One is the beginnings of Judaism and by extension worship of God, the Almighty, which likely began in East Africa even before it was in Israel. The other is the Ancient Egyptian occult, which is the basis of all forms of satanism/devil worship. The former (Judeo-Christian-Islamic) has as its basis the concepts of truth, prophets and salvation, whereas the latter (the occult) has the concepts of deceit, false prophets and the destruction and degradation of all, even the self. The major forms of the divine tradition are Judaism, Christianity and Islam, while the satanic tradition is more fragmented, but its major forms include Freemasonry (the Egyptian eye of horus and pyramids), Afro-Latin (Candomble, Palo, Voodoo…) and Kabbalah, though there are many others. The most powerful tool of the divine tradition is "soul reading", the ability to know the thoughts of others, a power that can be acquired only if used benevolently. The most powerful tool of the satanic tradition is alchemy, which ultimately seeks to transform not metal but the alchemist's body into something completely debased and unrecognizable as human. Areas that are comparatively secular, such as East Asia, have had little exposure to either tradition. Parts of Northern Europe (except Poland, which is Catholic) have little of the divine tradition, but a lot of the satanic tradition, so are not truly as secular as they seem.

At one point in this documentary, we were hearing about the Oracle Bones in China, and the story flipped back to Child Sacrifice.

FYI: The music at the very beginning is taken directly from the video game original soundtrack for Diablo II; the piece is titled "Sanctuary" and is track #9 on the soundtrack CD.

that was not nearly the 'dawn' of anything lol.
once humans developed self-conscious thinking to a higher degree, we instantly looked outside of ourselves for ways to reconnect to source, thus the dawn would have been hundreds of thousands of years ago, before organized civilizations in their most recent known incarnations.

honestly i dont think anyone wants to believe the bible or anything like any religions. (when i say "anyone" i dont mean every single person ) i think people are more than likely afraid of going to Hell and being punished "forever" or something. It sucks that people are afraid and worried about things like that. Like life on Earth, i think people would wish they could just be free here and in an afterlife after death.
