The first country to field an anti satelite weapon in space was the one that got its worldwide bunch of drones to agitate against the US doing so, yes the Soviet Union. It was a satelite that could be manoeuvred to crash into another to destroy it. Now China has also joined the pack.

Why would you deflect an asteroid at an alien species on Mars? Why not just nuke them, and how would we not spot an alien species before they set up a full settlement on Mars? Stupid.
