Video: North and South Korea Exchange Fire At Border DMZ

Pakalert October 30, 2010 1

“North and South Korea exchanged gunfire on Friday evening across the demilitarized zone (DMZ), which has separated Kim Jong Il’s communist regime in the north from the capitalist, democratic south since 1953.

South Korean officials have charged that North Korean forces initiated the conflict by “”launching the first shots”” at a South Korean guard post. In response, South Korean soldiers fired three shots back across the DMZ “”under the rules of engagement.””

South Korean officials said in a statement to the media that there was no damage from the shots fired. It is uncertain whether North Korean troops were even aiming at the guard post. Regardless, an investigation will be conducted to “”determine whether North Korea had violated terms of the armistice.”””
