A violent attack on a juvenile girl was recently captured on video… and now experts are warning everyone to be alert to avoid becoming a target.
The video — which was originally posted on Facebook but then deleted — shows three seemingly teenage girls surround and attack another female. Authorities say that it happened near Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, where it is believed all four of the girls are students.
Why was the girl targeted? Simple — she had a valuable smartphone. According to police, thefts and assaults motivated by electronic devices are increasing problems. “There’s a huge black market for electronic devices and that’s a problem right now,” stated Commander Bruce Folkens.
“We seen a bunch of girls jumping and attacking her over some money,” said one person who witnessed the violent assault. “That’s my first time ever seeing a fight like that,” recalled another witness. “That’s messed up — like, she was bleeding from her nose and her mouth too.”
Due to the video and images captured by witnesses, the three assault suspects are in custody, and the victim is expected to fully recover.
Expensive smartphones are an item that many of us carry everyday, and often use in public without a second thought. However, authorities are reminding phone owners that with some phones re-selling for hundreds of dollars, it’s important to remain alert and aware when using a phone in public.
Thugs will be dealt with by the people soon enough.
