Luke I'm not sure how you define the war in Syria as a proxy war. NATO had been in there for some time before Russia was invited in by the ruling, elected government. Everyone knows that Russia has a military base in Syria and only someone looking for a fight would kick over that ant's nest. NATO has been pushing the international envelope with their wars in the ME and eastern Europe. Real proxy wars were used in the old days of the cold war by arming opposing factions in a country. Today NATO is directly involved in a number of places and in a number of times. Other countries are starting to push back because the NATO monster has pushed right to their very door step with NATO membership now on the Russian border and the US telling China what it can't do in its own back yard. NATO is demanding the rest of the world follow the law while they disregard it. If people don't wake up and start complaining to their political reps then those same reps will take us to war.
