The US continues to buy Saudi oil. Sunni nations support ISIS. This reasoning is because Turkey wants to restart the caliphate. They want Syria and Iraq to be controlled by Sunni regimes so Saudi-Turkey connections can be even closer. Iran apposes this because they are Shia. They do no want a sunni caliphate next door to them. So they team with Russia to push back.
