Man was Robbed for PS4, then murdered

San Francisco police were searching for the gunman who robbed and shot a young man trying to sell a PlayStation4 game console, killing him Sunday afternoon.

The fatal shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mendell Street and Galvez Avenue in San Francisco’s Bayview District.

Earlier that day, the victim, later identified as being Ikenna Uwakah, had been contacted via an online ad for his PlayStation4 by a person believed to be a potential buyer. The two parties agreed to meet at a specific location later that day.

Sources told KTVU that the unidentified victim and his girlfriend, both 22, drove from Hayes Valley, where they live, to the agreed upon location in the Bayview District with the Sony game system.

But they weren’t even out of their vehicle when the couple was robbed of the console.

Though they surrendered the item willingly, the man was shot several times.

“They drove away from the scene as soon as they could,” SFPD Lt. Tim Plyer told KTVU. “And they were able to get hold of a police officer who gave them aid and called for an ambulance.”

The ambulance came to where the couple had stopped after fleeing, by a gas station on Bayshore Boulevard near Highway 101, and rushed the victim to the hospital, where he died.

The girlfriend was uninjured, and spent several hours at the Bayview Police Station that night, helping investigators piece together what happened.
