Obama Supporters Strip To Underwear To Get Young People To Sign Up For Obamacare

We guess it was inevitable that, given the public’s overwhelming failure to use the insurance exchanges to get covered, insurance companies would have to start drumming up business the old-fashioned way – with publicity stunts. In Colorado, this took the form of hiring pretty models to parade around in their underwear, wearing signs and handing out leaflets encouraging young people to “get covered.”

Even good-looking models may find this one a hard sell. Obamacare has an inherent structural flaw, which is that working young people, who don’t generally need insurance and who usually have that invincible feeling that’s inconsistent with insurance, must pay grotesquely high premiums in order to subsidize costs for the elderly, unemployed, and ill. In other word, the entire system is built upon your average 25-year-old’s altruism.

Apparently the insurance company decided altruism isn’t enough and is trying to use sex to sell. We doubt that this will succeed. In today’s casual hook-up culture, a few people in underwear aren’t going to change their minds.
