(24 Feb 2017) The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura welcomed the Syrian government delegation for a second day of talks in Geneva on Friday morning.
Syria’s opposing sides are meeting face-to-face for the first time under UN mediation in three years.
Speaking on Thursday, De Mistura cited a historic chance to end a conflict that has left hundreds of thousands dead, displaced millions and fomented a proxy war by foreign powers.
