Colorado made history yesterday when, in a recall election, voters ousted two state senators who have been pushing for tough gun control laws.
Senator John Morse and Senator Angela Giron, both Democrats, were ousted from their seats on the state legislature by slim but sufficient margins during a special vote called specifically because of their stances on gun control. Both had supported 15-round limits on ammunition magazines and expanded background checks on private gun sales.
The Colorado Republican Party called the vote results “a loud and clear message to out-of-touch Democrats across the nation” in a statement released late Tuesday. Colorado’s Democratic governor, John Hickenlooper, said he was “disappointed by the outcome of the recall elections” before calling on state residents to “refocus again on what unites Coloradans — creating jobs, educating our children, creating a healthier state — and on finding ways to keep Colorado moving forward.”
“We as the Democratic Party will continue to fight,” Morse told supporters in Colorado Springs as he conceded the race. Republican Bernie Herpin, a former Colorado Springs city councilman, will replace him. Giron will be replaced by Republican George Rivera, a former deputy police chief in Pueblo.
“We will win in the end because we are on the right side,” Giron said in her concession speech. (source)
Perhaps this will serve as a warning to other politicians that the constituents who put them into office expect to be represented. One liberty activist believes that to be the case.
“Tonight is a victory for the people of the State of Colorado, who have been subject to the overreach of a Democrat agenda on guns, taxes, and accountability to the people,” said Tim Knight, Founder of the Basic Freedom Defense Fund and the “father” of the Recalls. “Since day one, they said it couldn’t be done. Tonight, this is a victory for the people of Colorado, and we share this victory with them.” (source)
Will this be the beginning of a trend of recall elections to rein in those who are working for their big donors instead of the people they are supposed to serve?

A real success for the American People. Too bad these “senators” will still get their income for life. Now ending that would be a success.
See people? It CAN happen. YOU have the power to put these usurpers in their place, which is far away from making decisions that affect your very survival and right do you as you wish. It’s either this way or civil war.
