LaVena Johnson was a soldier who recruited in the Military in 2003. She was the first woman from Missouri to die in Iraq. What occurred to this young black woman was terrible.
She was found in her tent with a gunshot wound to the head, a damaged nose, dark eye, loose teeth, acid burns on her genital area, and a trail of blood going away from her tent. What is even more terrible is the Department of Defense has formally decided her death a suicide. The autopsy report and pictures exposed that her death was discrepant with a suicide, and looked consistent with a rape-murder, but as far as the U.S. Criminal Investigative Command for the Military is concerned the case remains shut.
Her father became suspicious when he saw her body in the funeral home and decided to investigate. At first the Department of the Army refused to release information, but eventually it did under the Freedom of Information Act after Pat Tillman’s death. In 2010, a documentary about her family’s struggle to uncover the truth about her death called LaVena Johnson: The Silent Truth was released
What a beautiful woman. Since the military has turned its back on her, her family and on justice, it must remain to the rest of us to make sure the case is resurrected and investigated fully. Where do we start applying the pressure. Do we need a petition? Should we contact our Congressmen, as useless as they all are? How do we proceed?
Rape is a major problem for both women AND MEN in the US Military. They call it MST Military Sexual Trauma. Men are being raped in the military. Many drugged and then used by multiple assailants causing permanent damage.
The thing is little of this is reported because of THREE reasons. One the embarrassment of admitting it happened, Two, the fact that when a soldier admits he has been drugged it is then recorded as “drug abuse” which often leads to disciplinary action and discharge. Third, the event itself is an embarrassment to the military and therefore frowned upon so it is rarely reported or acknowledged.
The bad thing is these things are happening in even greater numbers because of the degradation of society and military members spending even greater periods deployed. The US military does not provide appropriate diversions regarding sex. The Russian military does.
Clinton’s “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” policy was an open door to even more perversions. Many exercised by the political Elite themselves. American Morals have gone to the dogs.
Naval ships do not have private “rooms” for what comes naturally. Today’s Elite pushed lusts of Babylon are spread across the Lame Stream Media through television programming designed to undermine the morality of all Americans.
Examples? “Lost Girl”, “True Blood”, “Being Human”, “Cougars”, American Horror Story”, “Survivor”, “Big Brother”, “House Wives of Orange County”, “Sister Wives”, “Amish Mafia”, “Charmed”.
The glorification of sex in recent Disney movies. “Jerry Springer” and all other glorification shows exposing America’s perverted side. “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”, “Toddlers and Tiaras”. “Jersey Shore”, “Tosh”, “Key and Peele” (Plopping),
ANY SHOW that minimizes sexual immorality and glorifies the more private aspects of adult relationships.
Should I list movies as well? Any movie that glorifies sex between men and men and men and women or men/women and “Aliens/Vampires/Werewolves/Ghosts/Scantily clad beings/creatures/succubus”.
Come on, try to deny it. I remember TV shows like “Father Knows Best” the “Lucy Show”. When the dirtiest words spoken were “Ward, you went awfully hard on the Beaver last night.”

5 War Veteran. I share your sentiments exactly; and, your insight into the machinations of US military is appreciated. We seem to be at a precipice of devastating destruction that I doubt the vast majority of ‘civilized’ people remain ignorantly unaware of.
When the Military itself cover up such a heinous crime they become complicit in it. It is the military from the top brass on down that needs to be investigated for fostering a culture of criminality against its own members.
This is just heartbreaking. She was so beautiful too. And what a nasty coverup. There is. I way she did that to herself.

I am such a staunch supporter of our military that I have wrote songs about it. I love my country. Not particularly my gov’t at the moment but I love the people and the places and the love and the values and the ingenuity and the fun and the intelligence that MAKES IT UP. I love my Constitution. I love my Savior to whom this country was dedicated upon it’s founding. I’m thankful for the soldier who puts their life on the line each and every day to keep my country (relatively now, sad to say) free.
