Watching this the first time made me real sad. Every Locust I encountered afterward I wanted to chainsaw kill as violently as the game would allow me to.
Marcus has been through some shit having to accept the fact that he's watched his dad, his best friend, and (possibly) his babymama all die in front of him. Not to mention watching the Carmines get wrecked, and a bigass Samoan dude blow his own face off. I would include Mihn but Marcus probably saw Mihn's death as a benefit so he could get his squad leader position back lol.
When the game came out, me and my roomate went early in the morning to buy it, and played co-op at maximum difficulty with the intent of finishing the game in a single day, which we did. I can tell you, when you are 100% immersed, and been playing for countless hours non stop and you reach this part of the game, I couldn't hold my tears. Still one of the saddest death in all video game history.
the worst part about this scene, is that it was just that, nothing fancy at all, a pure death, and just like it, you're back into the mad House, getting swarmed by locust. all excitement gone of playing, just like how you'd imagine the characters felt, just dread. I played through the rest of the game down without Dom, only laughing a few times at Cole, just to be burst with joy when Marcus stabbed that bitch locust queen. sweet revenge, Carmine living was a grace as well. one of the best trilogies. I just wish Microsoft didn't beg them to make more gears games cause their other exclusives can't hold a candle to this game. best 3rd person shooter
My heart broke when I first saw this scene after going through the other games with Dom, and the scene afterwards when Marcus screams at Griffin "I just lost my fucking brother"…..five years on it still gets me :'(

This and soap's death are the saddest deaths in video game history. Nothing can compete with these two except perhaps Ghost from mw2
