I am a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant (1972-1993) and I voted for Trump. I hope President-elect Trump reads these comments as I was NOT encouraged by Gen. Mattis's testimony or his viewpoints. He sounds no different then John McCain, Tom Cotton and other senate military-industrial complex hawks that are defense/foreign policy ideologues. I think President-elect Trump's REALPOLITIK viewpoints are much more on target then theirs and I hope he doesn't end up becoming converted to their viewpoints rather then his own – which are far more realistic. We need to get back to President Eisenhower's defense policy of focusing primarily on the just the DEFENSE of the United States and its DIRECT interests, and not continuing in our self appointed role as head of the "international order" and chief global policeman. As a taxpayer I do not want to pay anymore for global policing or the high cost of imperium, both purposes which seems to exists primarily in order to justify expensive Defense industry weapon system acquisitions.
