I grew up in Hollywood and my family were all in the industry. My grandmother was a little rascal and did worked in many teen shows as she grew up. She told me the stories of being abused sexually by men and women. She was even sent to Mexico for abortions ( she had six). She had a breakdown in high school and was locked up in a mental institution to "cure" her. Despite her experiences, she still tried to get me to go into the business. Thankfully my mother always said no, and I would never sell my kids into it. It is a business of pure evil. They use the kids up and throw hem out.
Maybe this is the reason that so many young actors "fail" at life or go "off the rails" as they get older. This saddened me to my core and angered me beyond belief. To all the parents out there who want the fame and fortune for their children and turn a blind eye or ignore the signs – NO amount of fame and fortune is worth putting your children through the horror of abuse. May this be continued to be brought into the open and penalties made more severe. We need to protect these beautiful young people.
