Hold on to your helmets Star Wars fans as this incredible design could be the world’s first flying motorbike.

The Hoverbike, which combines elements of motorcycle and helicopter engineering, can reach speeds of more than 100mph and altitudes of up to 10,000ft, it is claimed.

It has been compared to the ‘speeder bikes’ used in 80s hit film Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,

Amateur inventor Chris Malloy spent his life savings and more than two years in his garage perfecting the futuristic flying machine.

The Australian helicopter pilot claims his futuristic flying machine, which can be manned or fully automated, is safer and easier to operate than competing designs.

Chris and his team have already surpassed expectations on crowdfunding site Kickstarter, having already attracted more than £55,000.

They have almost doubled their original £30,000 target with the campaign due to end in four days.

A prototype of the futuristic flying machine had its first formal public appearance at the Wings and Wheels airshow in Surrey.
