Man Dies in Police Raid on Wrong House

A 61-year-old man was shot to death by

police while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug

raid on the wrong house.

Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door.

The two officers, 25-year-old Kyle Shedran and 24-year-old Greg Day, were placed on administrative leave with pay.

“They need to get rid of those men, boys with toys,” said Adams’ 70-year-old widow, Loraine.

John Adams was watching television when his wife heard pounding on the door. Police claim they identified themselves and wore police jackets. Loraine Adams said she had no indication the men were police.

“I thought it was a home invasion. I said ‘Baby, get your gun!,” she said, sitting amid friends and relatives gathered at her home to cook and prepare for Sunday’s funeral.

Resident Fired First

Police say her husband fired first with a sawed-off shotgun and they responded. He was shot at least three times and died later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Loraine Adams said she was handcuffed and thrown to her knees in another room when the shooting began.

“I said, ‘Y’all have got the wrong person, you’ve got the wrong place. What are you looking for?“‘

“We did the best surveillance we could do, and a mistake was made,” Lebanon Police Chief Billy Weeks said. “It’s a very severe mistake, a costly mistake. It makes us look at our own policies and procedures to make sure this never occurs again.” He said, however, the two policemen were not at fault.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating. NAACP officials said they are monitoring the case. Adams was black. The two policemen are white.

Family members did not consider race a factor and Weeks agreed, but said the shooting will be “a major setback” for police relations with the black community.

“We know that, we hope to do everything we can to heal it,” Weeks said.

Johnny Crudup, a local NAACP official, said the organization wanted to make sure and would investigate on its own.

Weeks said he has turned the search warrant and all other evidence over to the bureau of investigation and District Attorney General Tommy Thompson. A command officer must now review all search warrants.

Police policing police will go no where. We need independent review commissions as standard for all police departments. Cop rage is out of control…..

That's messed up. They admitted they screwed up and even shot someone who wasn't involved in their sting/raid/attack, yet they get to drive a desk and with pay? SOOOOOOO WRONG! They should be fired and in jail. They do this crap because there is no punishment.

Hmmmm, sounds like a good time to invest in body armor. Why aren’t these two yahoos, Shedran and Day, under arrest, instead of being placed on administrative leave WITH PAY! I hope Mrs. Adams sues the city of Lebanon into bankruptcy

“We did the best surveillance we could do, and a mistake was made,” Lebanon Police Chief Billy Weeks said. “It’s a very severe mistake, a costly mistake.” You did the best you could and it led to an innocent man being murdered in his own home? Oops we made a mistake, that doesn’t cut it Chief Weeks! You, Chief Weeks and all the other shit for brains numbskulls involved in this incident need to be relieved of duties IMMEDIATELY and PERMANENTLY. The ENTIRE chain of command for this ‘operation’ needs to be fired immediately and charged with manslaughter, at the very least. Make an example out of these halfwits!! And throw the ‘informant’ in with these bumbling incompetents. This is beyond the pale. If you don’t know what that means, Chief Weeks, and I doubt you do, LOOK IT UP!!

This is EXACTLY what happened in Arizona to Jose Guerena, a decorated Marine combat veteran because the Pima County SWAT team are too FUCKING STUPID to comprehend STREET NUMBERS!! What’s worse is they withheld life saving medical attention to Mr. Guerena for over a half hour so he would bleed out. Those sub Neaderthals should be on trial for capital murder. That idiot Dupnik and all the feeble minded bubbleheads that MURDERED Mr. Guerena should be in jail, awaiting trial. Accountability needs to be enforced upon the police. Murder an innocent civilian and YOU GO TO STATE PRISON!!

Of course, enforcing the death penalty as mandatory punishment for drug traffickers would be a good place to start

Sure glad I don’t live in Ohio or Arizona.

Asa a former police officer, we were trained that proper police work should (and Use to include) taking informant information and verifying it with first hand observations. The police are out of control, executing innocent citizens, and not verifying statements made to them by informants. The number of these home invasions on wrong homes is out of control. These officers have a duty to the public to protect them from wrongful police actions. I hope these two idiots end up being a bitch in a prison.

Next time they will go door to door to get all the right people.

    “NAACP is monitoring the case.”
What about when black cops shoot a white person? Does the NAACP monitor those cases? Unlikely. If not the NAACP then who or what? No one like this never happens. No such thing as “black racism”, right? Racism has always been a one-way street from the beginning in spite of open, outright hatred of white people by any race. White people are not allowed to stand up for themselves in today’s society, and are expected to be doormats. This is what “politically correct” means. Politically Correct and Personal Computer have the same initials. In reality, both are cold and impersonal.
