Only a day after the infamous Nevada Senator, Harry Reid, declared to a local news station that the standoff between Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management is “not over,” his son Rory appeared on a local NBC news program and called Bundy a loser who needs to be prosecuted.

The standoff seemingly came to an end on Saturday when the sheriff of Clark County announced that a deal had been reached between Bundy and the BLM after a week-long standoff where hundreds of protestors flocked to the area in support of the rancher.

The BLM’s actions were a result of Bundy allegedly not paying over $1 million in “grazing fees” to the bureau since 1993, which Bundy said he refuses to pay since he doesn’t recognize the authority of the federal government. The dispute sparked outrage across the nation as many Americans were sympathetic to Bundy’s plight, many of us having felt the effects of an overbearing government at some point or another in our lives, and brought the debate of states’ rights versus federal authority to the forefront of national politics.

The elder Reid on Monday broke his silence on the matter and said that “We can’t have an American people violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it’s not over,” suggesting that the battle between the BLM and Bundy is only going to intensify.

On Tuesday, his Reid’s son Rory echoed those statements and took them even further, calling Bundy a “loser” for not following the law and blaming him for the tense situation that resulted.

“We believe in a country in which we are subject to laws and you can’t just ignore the laws we don’t like,” he stressed.

He concluded by saying “he broke the law and he should be prosecuted.”

Rory said he doesn’t believe Bundy to be a victim or a hero, rather he sees him as nothing more than a common criminal who should face penalties like any other criminal.

However Bundy believes that the BLM is working to shut down the ranching industry, citing that there were once 52 ranchers in the area he’s in and now he’s the only one. He claims it’s the excessive fees and red tape from the BLM that has shut down the other ranchers and he doesn’t want to be another victim of an unelected bureaucracy with no accountability to the public, and who can blame him?
