-~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Technocalyps is an intriguing three-part documentary on the notion of transhumanism by Belgian visual artist and filmmaker Frank Theys. The latest findings in genetics, robotics, artificial intelligence, bionics and nanotechnology appear in the media every day, but with no analysis of their common aim: that of exceeding human limitations. The director conducts his enquiry into the scientific, ethical and metaphysical dimensions of technological development. The film includes interviews by top experts and thinkers on the subject worldwide, including Marvin Minsky, Terence McKenna, Hans Moravec, Bruce Sterling, Robert Anton Wilson, Richard Seed, Margareth Wertheim, Kirkpatrick Sale, Ralph C. Merkle, Mark Pesce, Ray Kurzweil, Rabbi Youssouf Kazen, Rael and many others.

Even an extended, near immortal life will come to an end eventually, THEN we can see if there is an afterlife or not.. As it stands we know little about the Universe, the Multiverse(?), other dimensions, multiple realities(?); its hardly surprising some may not believe in any afterlife (just a returning to the material "whole" of the Universe) – what is wrong with prolonging life? Will we not be able to end our existence? There will always be an off switch – destroy the brain/delete the program.

He doesn't need a slap – if anything the term itself is the problem. Just because the term design is used doesn't mean he doesn't understand emergent properties/patterns of chaotic systems. I know it's frustrating – but you're just going to have to wait patiently until everyone else catches up and reaches an expanded "generalized" understanding of what "design" can mean. Just be glad that most people hearing today won't think that the human body is a "super natural" design. That's a start!

I was going to say something rather nasty about "ignorance" and "Luddite worldviews" and such. Perhaps the truth is that we do need people to argue this perspective so that it forces all of us to think deeply about the ethical challenges. All the challenges we've faced thus far in forging society; democracy, equity etc. pale in comparison to what will be needed in the next 3 decades. Technology will force / allow us to change from the non-ethical society we are to 1 where basic needs must be met

… this could also be said to for your worldview. Just like the worldview of your ancestors, it is tired and ready to expire. You believe you're destined for some everlasting kingdom of super natural origin. Perhaps you're correct, but there's no realworld evidence for this beyond the second hand accounts written in a book in which you place all your faith. This doesn't mean your wrong, but I'll take my chances in figuring out how the universe works by looking at the world around me vs 1 book.

    This documentary is completely InHuman!!!

Somebody needs to slap the idiot at 0:50! The human body is NOT a design. It is a ongoing product of adaptation, not a bottom-up "design". The closest we get to a "design" is that he has a face to have a slap added.

** hit like to give him +1 slapses **

@411Bigboss As you didn't specify the lady in your comment, I could only assume you where referring to the cat.

  10. 411Bigboss says:

@madichelp0 not the cat, the lady.

  11. madichelp0 says:

@411Bigboss Why would you wanna kick the cat?

  12. 411Bigboss says:

That poor poor cat. how about i experiment with her butt and my foot? you know, see if i can scientificly come up with a foot that is soft like a butt. Or maybe just see i the motion of my foot kicking her butt can generate enough kenitic energy to power 3 hospitals.
