Manstein [at that time a Maj.Gen.] who tried to promote the plan HE himself devisde but when hitler looked ta it he didn't understand it and it was brushed aside [well, hitler was a failed artist… did anybody seriously expect him to know anything about akadamie officer strategy/taktics… he was a moron in military terms.. and in politics.. and particularly in diplomacy… "only a fool and bully thinks he is a great statesman by making and breaking diplomatic agreements within weeks of making them WITH THE WHOLE WORLD WATCHING!"]? even Brauschitch had Manstein's plan kept from hitler as he thought it 'ludicrous'.
it was Halder and others who actually explained the actual audacity of punching armour thru such 'impassable terrain as forest' to that retard hitler.
and did Manstein ever get the laurels for devising such a superb plan? no. hitler claimed it all. probably explains why he didn't hang around France long after Paris fell… deep down that idiot knew he didn't win the battle of France.
i sometimes despise these ancient out of date documentaries that haven't been updated. it would a simple thing to use another narrator to explain how zhukov was no more a great general than a child was pushing over and crushing millions of little toy soldiers to squish ants just to kill a few of them.

You need Hitler, Manstein, and Guardian for it too actually happen. Manstein gets shafted a bit, but that plan never gets the go ahead without hitler. Also the entire tactical basis for the plan in built on work done by Guardian. He is the guy who is still forgotten, Manstein gets enough credit.

The look at absolute heart break by the French, especially the veterans of the Great War when the Germans marched into Paris. The death of some many in the previous war did not spare them against their loss against the Germans in 1940.
