Why Did Russia Ban The Use Of Microwave Ovens?

Consumers are dying today in part because they continue to eat dead foods that are killed in the microwave. They take a perfectly healthy piece of raw food, loaded with vitamins and natural medicines, then nuke it in the microwave and destroy most of its nutrition. Humans are the only animals on the planet who destroy the nutritional value of their food before eating it. All other animals consume food in its natural, unprocessed state, but humans actually go out of their way to render food nutritionally worthless before eating it. No wonder humans are the least healthy mammals on the planet.

In Russia, microwave ovens were banned in 1976 because of their negative health consequences as many studies were conducted on their use. The ban was lifted after Perestroika in the early 90’s. Numerous documents can be found online relating to this topic.

The invention of the microwave and its mass adoption by the population coincides with the onset of obesity in developed nations around the world. Not only did the microwave make it convenient to eat more obesity-promoting foods, it also destroyed much of the nutritional content of those foods, leaving consumers in an ongoing state of malnourished overfeeding. In other words, people eat too many calories but not enough real nutrition. The result is, of course, what we see today: Epidemic rates of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, kidney failure, liver disorders and much more.

These diseases are all caused by a combination of malnutrition and exposure to toxic chemicals (plus other factors such as emotional trauma, lack of exercise, etc.). Microwaves make malnutrition virtually automatic, and being exposed to toxic chemicals is easy to accomplish by simply eating processed foods (which are universally manufactured with the addition of toxic chemicals that act as preservatives, colorings, flavor enhancers and so on).

    Microwaving is, technically, a form of food irradiation. I find it interesting that people who say that would never eat “irradiated” food have no hesitation about microwaving their food. It’s the same thing (just a different wavelength of radiation). In fact, microwaves were originally called “radar ranges.” Sounds strange today, doesn’t it? But when microwaves were first introduced in the 1970’s, they were proudly advertised as radar ranges. You blast your food with high-intensity radar and it gets hot. This was seen as some sort of space-age miracle in the 1970’s. Perhaps someday an inventor will create a food heating device that does not radically alter the nutritional value of the foods in the process, but I’m not holding my breath on this one. Probably the best way to heat foods right now is to simply use a countertop toaster oven, and keep the heat as low as possible.

The microwave does work as advertised, by the way. It makes your food hot. But the mechanism by which heat is produced causes internal damage to the delicate molecular structures of vitamins and phytonutrients. Minerals are largely unaffected, however, so you’ll still get the same magnesium, calcium and zinc in microwaved foods as you would in non-microwaved foods, but the all-important B vitamins, anthocyanins, flavonoids and other nutritional elements are easily destroyed by microwave ovens.

The microwave is the appliance of the living dead. People who use the microwave on a regular basis are walking down a path towards degenerative disease and a lifelong battle with obesity. The more you use the microwave, the worse your nutritional state gets, and the more likely you are to be diagnosed with various diseases and put on pharmaceuticals which, of course, will create other health problems that lead to a grand spiraling nosedive of health.

Do yourself a favor: Toss your microwave, or donate it to some charity. It’s much easier to avoid using the microwave if you don’t have one around. It will clear up counter space, save you electricity and greatly enhance your dietary habits. When you need to heat something, heat it in a toaster oven or a stovetop pan (avoid Teflon and non-stick surfaces, of course). Better yet, strive to eat more of a raw, unprocessed diet. That where you’ll get the best nutrition anyway. Buy yourself a Vita-Mix and blend up some smoothies. It’s faster than microwaving foods are far healthier. 1. Microwaved foods lose 60 ~ 90% of the vital-energy field and microwaving accelerates the structural disintegration of foods.

2. Microwaving creates cancer-causing agents within milk and cereals.

3. Microwaving alters elemental food-substances, causing digestive disorders.

11. Microwave emissions also caused alteration in the catabolic (breakdown) behaviour of glucoside – and galactoside – elements within frozen fruits when thawed in this way.

12. Microwaves altered catabolic behavior of plant-alkaloids when raw, cooked or frozen vegetables were exposed for even very short periods.

13. Cancer-causing free radicals were formed within certain trace-mineral molecular formations in plant substances, especially in raw root vegetables.

14. Due to chemical alterations within food substances, malfunctions occurred in the lymphatic system, causing degeneration of the immune systems’ capacity to protect itself against cancerous growth.

15. The unstable catabolism of micro-waved foods altered their elemental food substances, leading to disorders in the digestive system.

16. Those ingesting micro-waved foods showed a statistically higher incidence of stomach and intestinal cancers, plus a general degeneration of peripheral cellular tissues with a gradual breakdown of digestive and excretory system function.

17. Microwave exposure caused significant decreases in the nutritional value of all foods studied, particularly:
* A decrease in the bioavailability of B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, essential minerals and lipotrophics

So. if you are going to use a microwave oven, it is suggested that you set and walk out of the kitchen where practical. The American FDA advised “don’t stand in front of a microwave for long periods of time”. There is a lot of researching being conducted into microwave oven and the effects that it may have on human bodies. Final studies have not been released as yet, but if the above is any indication to the negative affects on food, I can only imagine the effects on the human body. So if you don’t have to use a microwave oven, then don’t. Even if it is to preserve the quality and nutritional value of your food.”

    Russia does care about health more than america – they wanted a healthy population to conquer the world and their health was not dominated by profit hungry agro and health businesses which poisons americans for gain. Plus the russians know about traditional healthy foods and often have a vegetable patch. Their main problem is vodka and the encroachment of american chemicalised junk food and GMO’s . You only have to look at the average american to see they are poisoned with fluoride , aspartame , vaccines , GMO’s ,

    I checked Mercola’s website. Actually, I already had in my previous research. What facts do we know about this lady’s death?
    She received microwaved blood.
    She died.
    That’s it really. From this, the authors (Anthony Wayne and Laurence Newell – yes, I’ve done my research) conclude that she died of some nefarious property of microwaves.

    Debunkers have also looked at this, but being inconvenient evidence gatherers they actually looked for evidence like the autopsy report, the court proceedings, the jury’s finding, the judge’s decision, the media’s reaction, possible alternative theories, all sorts of things ignored by Mercola / Wayne / Newell because the truth gets in the way of a good story. Norma Levitt (for that was her name) died as a result of a blood clot per the autopsy. Her family sued on the grounds that her blood had been overheated in the microwave – basically it was cooked – causing fatal gross haemolysis. For this same reason, hospitals do not heat blood in saucepans, frying pans, under grills or in toaster ovens (so “other devices” are also dangerous). Look up Warner vs Hillcrest Memorial Health Center.

    I beg people here to do the research. Don’t ask the question “microwave ovens are dangerous, what evidence supports this?”, this is putting the cart before the horse. Instead, be open minded, ask “Are microwave ovens dangerous, what does the evidence say?”. Funnily enough, your conclusions may be completely different. Try to find a mechanism for what happens, try to look at things from a different angle.

    By the way, debunkers have asked Russian lawyers to find the law that banned microwave ovens, or the law that repealed the ban, they have to date failed to do so. There are copious comments on the web but all funnel down to a “researcher” called Bill Kopp, one of the sources for Wayne and Newell’s articles. Outside of that funnel there is absolutely no evidence at all.

    microwaves are only dangerous in the same way fire is dangerous: If it’s intense enough on your tissue to cause burns. Normal burns, like what you get from fire. It isn’t ionizing, which means it can’t really cause cancer any more than fire can.

    Microwaves aren’t anything special. They obey all the normal laws of physics, one of which is that photons need to be at least as energetic as the photons in the ultraviolet range to ionize molecules and cause damage that way. Microwave photons are less energetic than visible light photons, so if they could cause cancer so could all the light you’re capable of seeing, meaning that microwaves would be the least of your worries.

    This article is very ill-informed! It reminds me of a story my grandparents once told me in point of fact. When they first got electricity installed in their home many years ago, all of the neighbours thought they were crazy. Their elderly neighbours would rant on about “dangerous electricity” causing food to literally mutate as you are cooking it (I suspect they were thinking of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein). Eating this food would apparently cause the body’s nervous and immune system to go haywire and you would soon end up like a drooling, violent Frankenstein and be locked away in a lunatic asylum. It’s also similar to those people who were too afraid to touch a computer keyboard for fear of an electric shock. That was only a couple decades ago when PC’s first became available. Probably the greatest threat with microwaves is from those people who don’t clean them regularly. I have seen some FILTHY microwaves. This is the same threat posed from uncooked foods, particularly raw vegetables and fruit. The threat of course is from those entirely natural creatures called germs. Remember them? They are still with us, and becoming more prevalent due to our exploding human population. BTW, I often recycle my microwaved water on to plants (after it has cooled down of course). Not one has died and all remain healthy. I suspect the myth came about because people were tipping water straight from the microwave on the plant, i.e. it was close to boiling. Or they were boiling the water for so long that the salts in the water had become concentrated due to evaporation. Little wonder in both cases that the plants died!

    I like your enthusiasm and ambition to help people! I am a super health freak, and I personally don’t use microwaves, not because I’ve done research, but because they seem “sketchy” to me. I don’t like the way they heat my food, dry it out, or make it taste. So I am more than willing to agree with your article!
    But I also have some friendly criticism! This is an important message to communicate to people, and I think it’s important to get this info across in the most efficient way possible. I would like to see more research as to exactly WHY the microwave is bad. You say that microwaves alter the chemical composition of foods, but HOW do they do this? I’m very curious. I’ll probably go and do some research on my own now.
    I’m somewhat of a skeptic, and I’m sure others are just like me and would like to see more scientific data.
    Also, I feel like the tone of your article is hindering its message. We all know humanity sucks, we’re destroying ourselves, the planet, and the worst part is that we’re all oblivious to it. BUT your cynicism is a little harsh! I felt as though you were personally attacking your reader, when you should try to be a little more understanding in that fact that people really are oblivious! It’s not like they want to be eating irradiated food, they just don’t know what they’re doing. Be more gentle, provide more background research, and I believe this could turn into a really influential message!

    What??? Find a little more information before you say such a thing. There’s convection ovens that cook just as fast as microwaves and some of them are about the same size. Cooking anything will remove most of the nutrition value. It doesn’t matter how it’s done.

    I fully agree that we shouldn’t be using microwaves or eating microwavable food due to the nutritional content, however around a year ago, I purchased two identical basil plants to test the microwavable water theory myself.

    I watered one with tap water, the other with water that had been microwaved for 1 minute but had been left to cool. There was no difference in the growth of the basil plants.

    Try it for yourself to test this – a cheap experiment to do.

    Conclusions anyone?

    My criticism of this page is more of a structural nature. If you present something purporting to have scientific value, you have to defend your statements. You open yourself to peer review and criticism. Basically, you have to prove that you’re right. Reversing the process, eg. answering criticism with “No, YOU prove it’s wrong” is inherently unscientific. That’s my main problem with pages like this: they pretend to present science, but don’t. That’s why it’s called pseudoscience. Check the page, there’s no link to outside sources. If it were a scientific page, it would link to sources. As it stands, it’s a collection of unfounded statements. At this point, there is no need to refute them, because you didn’t make an effort to present a founded statement. There is no scientific value in that. Please find and cite outside sources to make your page credible. Go all the way down if necessary. Make an effort!

    There was no law that banned microwave ovens in the old Soviet Union, William Kopp made this up for his article many years ago. Several debunkers have trawled the USSR legal code without success trying to find the law – or the law that repealed it during perestroika.

    One argument goes that if even the Soviets banned microwave ovens, and we all know how evil the Soviets were, then surely microwave ovens must be bad. It is in the same boat as the allegation that the Nazis invented microwave ovens. They didn’t (if they had cavity magnetrons available, they would have done what the British did and built accurate high frequency radar sets).

    Evil inventors developing something that even the evil Soviet empire had to ban, how effective that is as anti microwave oven propaganda.

    The question is valid given the sheer bulk of comment on the internet, but the simple truth is that microwave ovens were not banned in the old USSR. Urban Myth. No evidence whatsoever to support it.

But when I see images used that are making illogical conclusions OR could even be faked, I tend to disregard the rest of the content.

    That is nuts – I recall that when my family got their first microwave there was going to be people come around every year or so to make sure that the gasket around the door did not leak – 25 years later & I think they still have the same bulky old microwave with the handle broken off the door but it still works – never seen the people that was going to test it…

    Also where do most people stand when using the microwave – gotta get that front row seat to see your food cooking – how much do we get cooked standing there – who knows – it don’t cause cancer until they find it – much much later!

    This person is confused, I’m afraid. I have followed the research on the kind of radiation that is used in microwave ovens (and cell phones and wi-fi, etc.) for many years. Believe me, if there were so much concern about the food itself in a microwave, I would have heard plenty about it, and I have heard little. The microwaves themselves (I’m not speaking about the oven, but the radiofrequency microwave radiation) have been researched a good bit, and there is reason to be concerned about their long-term effect on the human body. The World Health Organization’s IARC committee has deemed them a possible carcinogen. There are many studies indicating that this kind of radiation energy is being received by the body’s cells and being mistaken for its own electromagnetic signals. That’s a definite concern. It is why several countries in the world have called for precaution, especially regarding children’s exposure.

    Microwave ovens do have high intensities of this kind of radiation. They have to in order to cook food. The typical frequency used is about 2.4 GHz. Theoretically, the oven itself is well shielded to contain that energy and direct it toward the food. However, it is well known that many microwave ovens leak, especially as they get older, and doors don’t hang quite as tight. Some may leak from the get-go. For this reason, I would take the precaution of standing well back from it when in operation. I certainly would not keep it at head-level in my kitchen workspace, as so many are located.

    You can get an idea of how much your microwave oven may leak by taking a portable AM radio, directing the antenna toward the microwave, turning the dial to the far left to the “white noise” area, turning the volume up so you can easily hear it, stand right in front of the microwave, then turn it on and slowly step back from it. You may hear a buzz that gets more and more feint with distance, depending how much the radiation inside it is leaking. Where it blends in with the white noise, you are probably in the area you want to be in when your oven is in operation. Remember that the radiation penetrates walls, too, so whatever is on the other side of the wall is being radiated, too.

    If any arcing should occur (from mistakenly using a dish with metal paint, etc., in it) do not get close to the oven with your head. Quickly turn it off or unplug it. The former Director-General of the WHO burned her eyes getting too close during an arcing event. Damage can be permanent.

    As for cell phones, cordless phones, WiFi, smart meters, etc., they are all emitters of radiofrequency microwave radiation. Much lower intensities than an oven, but you use them a whole lot more and over a very long span of time. And there is no shielding. Cell towers, cordless base stations, wifi, smart meters and some kinds of home wiring may be exposing you to this radiation 24/7. No one knows what the long-term effects of this exposure are going to be. We will find out. But it doesn’t look too good. At least for a portion of the population.

      Microwave radiation goes tru everything in the house, so its not a good idear to stand near or behind it -you need to be coverd in bly -if you dont want anny radiation.

      It goes so fare that you need a sealed room -not to get the radiation.

      Have you ever been xraid? its the same radiation they use to get pictures inside your boddy -the are whit bly in front and they leave the room -before xray why do you think? just to bee on the safe side or? no they have to or else they get cancer.

      Just to get the picture clear -if you own a microwave -you get raddiaded, every time its in use -thats a fact.

      Then we can talk about how much -and waht happens -and when it happens, but some effect it has 😉

      Some even say it stay in the room for longer, and that its not safe to have it plugged in hmm -I have one, buts only use it now and then.

    Can’t remember having read so much nonsense in one article. The food is heated by the waves that are made by a magnetron, which changes the poles of the watermolecules from a plus to a minus at a rapid speed. This causes friction which heats the food which mainly consists of water. Because the radius of the waves created by the magnetron do not exceed the size of the microwave oven they cannot not reach beyond it.
    The author of this article obviously does not know anything about the benefits of the microwave oven and knows less about it’s cooking process, which often has many advantages over convection cooking such as the ability to cook a family meal for four people in one cooking procedure, which isn’t a casserole because each ingredient keeps its original flavor.
    A child of ten, a senior citizen, a student or a person living on a boat can have friends over for a formal or informal dinner without blushing.
    Thanks to ignorant authors who publish silly articles about the negative effects of owning a microwave oven, by suggesting that because the food is being cooked by waves that the food therefore is being nuked, the age of the popular microwave oven has obviously not arrived yet.

      having used a handheld measuring device to measure the field radius of several household microwaves that were either new or a few years old, i can say that the fields do NOT stay within the area of the device and in fact went out 20ft!
      industrial devices i measured do not project a large field and are most likely as you describe. however almost none of these are in people’s houses.

It’s all very well to quote all these “facts” in the article above, but where are the links to the scientific journals to back them up? Where in short, is the proof?
      I’m sick of reading half-baked (no pun intended) conspiracy theory laden articles like this. You do nothing for your cause.

      The action of microwaves on water molecules is to flip them over thousands of times a second, creating friction which heats the entire substance. This works because, while a water molecule overall is electrically neutral, it is slightly positive on one end and slightly negative on the other. Water is not the only substance that has this property and more delicate substances (certain nutrients) with this property are prone to being ripped apart by microwaves. Also, water in micro-clustered states would be ripped out of this state, loosing their coherence as micro-clusters.

      Gross, just eat the food and don’t cook it in any way. Microwave ovens are not even safe to have plugged in. Get an EMF meter phone app and measure it yourself.

      No you are wrong. The microwaves change the chemical composition in foods, rendering it dead, like it said in the article. Also, microwaving your food, and eating it, can cause Alzheimer’s disease. Why would you not think it’s bad? It is bombarding your food with waves and changing its structure.
