as a Hungarian, it makes me really sad that all those little events that could go wrong actually went wrong and as result (mediately) caused Hungary to be an irrelevant poor country after 50 years of glorious communism

So, the war could be avoided if the Internet has existed back then.
Just like now it helps to avoid many conflicts. Communication is key in keeping peace.

forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Austrians say that they would allow serbian oversight on the investigation, from what I remember reading, the request wasn't that ridiculous.

In a way the Kaiser was right, if Austria was going to go to war, they should have done it as soon as the assassination took place. It would have been over by the time the Russians could mobilize against them and the whole not annexing them thing would have been apparent in the peace talks after Serbia was defeated.

when we had this discussion in class i told my teacher that i will always believe that it was Russia who should have been charged with the war guilt cause and not Germany. I still stand by that. Its all Russia's fault.

As an archeologist and a historian i have to object, the narative is far to simplified and skewd in one direction for it to present a whole story. Mainly concerning the presentaton of the serb side.
    1. Young Bosnia (not young Serbia )was an organisation comprised of all etnicities that would combine the future Yugoslavia (muslim, croats and serbs) that would be crated after the great war. They were from Bosnia ,not from Serbia.
    2. Their ideology was not os serbian nationalism but of yugoslav unification, meaning one country for all the south slavs.
    3. War was predicted the moment serbia achived its independence in 1878 after two uprisings against the Otoman Turks. Because the main gepolitical push of the Austrian Empire was toward the south east europe and the middle east, based on the inevitable colapse of the turks and the plans to incorporate all turkish european land teritories.
    4. Austria-Hungary had direct plans for war with Serbia since the end of the first balkan war.
    5. Serbia conducted its own independent politics based on unification and liberation of the rest othe serbian populace that remained under turkish rule.
    6. Which she achived in the first (1912) and second balkan war (1913),when the Turks were reduced to their present borders.
    7. After 1912 the war was imminent, because serbia was a direct geographical and political barrier to further east expansion by the Austrian empire.nit was always a plan to completely anex the country.
8.Austria already had a large population of serbs within its borders (about two million) and some even had their own duchies (such as duchy of serbian voivodina), others comprised large portions of populace in dalmatia and slavonia and an overwhelming majority in bosnia.
    9. Bosnia was anexed from the turks about a decade before the war inspite of the Bosnian popular demand and political agitation to become a part of Serbia.
    10. 90% of serbs in Austria and the majority of croats and muslems were at that time in favor of joining Serbia. Which made Austria even more hostile, and resulted in baning and prosecution of many pro unity newspapers, books and political arests of pro unity agitators.
    11. Austria demanded "card blansche" from germany only after it failed to present any proof that the serbian goverment is in any way conected to the assasination. Its argument was based on satisfaction of "honour" and "vengeance" against the serbs.
    12. Sarajevo is in Bosnia, and was never a capital of Serbia.
    And much much more….
    P.s. Sory for bad grammar.

Sarajevo was part of austria-hungary at the time, not Serbia. Lots of mistakes here.
