I love this post, but why are you using the People's Republic of China flag for China? The PRC didn't exist until 1949 and the flag didn't exist before then. Communist Chinese forces used a variety of different specific flags.
The China that fought Japan was the Republic of China which has its own flag and was who Japan actually surrendered to at the end of the war.
Also, why did you say the Chinese front devolved into a guerilla war by 1939?
The front had stalled but it was still conventional. The first Battle of Changsha, Second Battle of Changsha, the third Battle of Changsha, Kunlun Pass, the invasion and defense of Burma…. The only front with larger battles involving more conventional forces than the Chinese front was the Eastern Front.
I'm going to be one more person mentioning that you used the wrong flag for China.
This is actually a fairly big oversight. Most of those soldiers in PRC Red shirts would actually have died a few years later trying to prevent the PRC from coming into being.
The Nationalists bore the vast majority of the anti Japanese war effort and that war was a conventional struggle. That the Nationalists exhausted themselves fighting Japan for eight years is important and the Republic of China shouldn't have its sacrifice erased out of either ignorance or a need to make the Chinese flag more recognizable.
Also, the whole "devolved into guerilla war" statement is flat out wrong. Japan aggressively expanded from 1937 – 1939 and was resisted conventionally by regular Chinese soldiers. The next expansionary phases for Japan were in 1941 and again in 1944. They fought with the regular Chinese army. When Japan was not actively expanding, they were still opposed by the regular Chinese army. There was a guerilla war as well, but that didn't make up the bulk of the fighting and the Japanese assigned guerillas a much lower priority than they did regular ROC troops.
The British and French colonies lessened both countries need to trade. They were fine resource wise completely on their own, let alone allied. WWII was largely a continuation of world war I. Germany, Italy and Japan were attempting to secure colonial interests by force in the exact same way the French and British had done so for 300 years and the British, French and Americans said no, we will not have competitors in this area.
What ended up happening was France and Britain bankrupting themselves and losing their empires, the rise of the Soviet Union as a superpower, the subjugation of half of europe and half of asia under communist dictatorships, America inheriting some of the British, French and Japanese Empires, a war in Korea, a war in Vietnam, a permanent war in the middle east, mass genocides across almost the entirety of Africa, mass Americanization of all world cultures and economies, and a nuclear standoff for 50 years.
And we still call it the 'good war!'

wages does not equal per capital income, actually the average wage will always be less than per capita income. wages operate much differently than he suggests, however per capita income is an indicator of productivity as the more productive you are the more you earn. per capita income includes more than wages it also includes investments, interest earned, and gains from sell of goods and property. for example a large land owner might sell his land which a factory can be built on, his income represents a more efficient use of land or social gain. we can tell the level of technological advancement by the numbers of unskilled low income and skilled low income jobs, the more unskilled the more a country is developing, the more skilled the more developed or stagnant a country is.
