Amtrak Palmetto #90 arriving and departing Staples Mill Road Station

This was my last train for today. And I must admit, this would be today’s best train. Later on, without any warning, the PA announced that train #90 would be pulling in shortly. So I got my camera ready. The Palmetto’s a pretty cool train. As we know, it runs between Savannah, GA and New York City. Today, its layover in Richmond was longer than I expected it to be, hence, the length of this video. I do like getting shots of these Amtraks arriving at stations, picking up and dropping off passengers, and departing the station. I used to just film the arrivals and departures, but much more often now, I film the entire stop! A few times, I got shots of the crew guy getting in and out of the cab of the Genesis locomotive. It’s pretty cool to watch them do that. I forgot to mention, at the beginning of this railfanning trip, I was the only one at the station patio. I was fascinated by that. Usually, there are other people waiting out here. I found another thing interesting, at some point in this video, the engineer slowed down the idling sound of the locomotive, but picked it back up a little bit later. It took a while for them to finally announce the final boarding call and to finally let the station get the hell out of Richmond so they can get to Alexandria and their following station stops. The locomotive is P42DC #204. Enjoy the video! This was the last catch of the day, because my dad has his own dinner plans tonight, so I was basically on my own as far as dinner. As I type this description, I’m having some buffalo wings from Kroger. Delicious. 😛
