Lavrov made the remarks during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday.
“Sergei Lavrov drew attention to the extremely dangerous consequences of a possible new military intervention for the whole Middle East and North Africa region,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It added that Moscow was “deeply alarmed” by Washington’s statement about its readiness to intervene in Syria.
Foreign Minister Lavrov urged restraint during the conversation with John Kerry, the statement said.
US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on August 23 that the Pentagon was positioning military forces as part of “contingency options” provided to US President Barack Obama regarding Syria.
France and the Israeli regime have also called for military action against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
Hagel’s comments have been interpreted as a tacit suggestion that the US may be preparing for a military strike on Syria. The US defense secretary repeated similar remarks on Sunday during a visit to Malaysia.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said in a recent interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia that any military intervention by the US would end in “failure.”
The United Nations says over 100,000 people have been killed and a total of 7.8 million of others displaced due to the turmoil that has gripped Syria since March 2011.

Red Flag News reported: The P-800 Oniks Russian П-800 Оникс; English Onyx, also known in export markets as Yakhont, English ruby or sapphire, is a Russian/Soviet supersonic anti-ship cruise missile developed by NPO Mashinostroyeniya as a ramjet version of P-80 Zubr. Its GRAU designation is 3M55. Development reportedly started in 1983, and by 2001 allowed the launch of the missile from land, sea, air and submarine. The missile has the NATO reporting codename SS-N-26. It is reportedly a replacement for the P-270 Moskit, but possibly also for the P-700 Granit. The P-800 was reportedly used as the basis for the joint Russian-Indian supersonic missile the BrahMos.

Syria is to Russia as Israel is to the U.S. Now then, there are published reports that a member of the rebel opposition confided to Dale Gaulak, an AP correspondent, that the chemical attack was an accident caused by mishandling of a Saudi supplied chemical weapon by a poorly trained or untrained member of the rebel opposition. The questions now are: who discharged the weapon, how & why was it discharged and who supplied the weapon? Notwithstanding anything that Barack Obama or any person in his administration says: only wars of self-defense or wars authorized by the U.N. Security Council are legal under international law. Also, under the circumstances, any attack on Syria that Obama orders without Congressional authorization is an illegal violation of the War Powers Act and is a criminal act of war if not a terrorist attack.

Well they could start an international movement to displace the dollar as the global reserve currency. What a different world it would be if no foreign countries would accept foreign aid unless it were given in a stable currency other than the dollar. The U.S. treasury would continue to print dollars but issue them in rolls and dispense them in bathrooms instead of banks.
Hold that thought, what a great idea. The entitlement junkies of the world would no longer accept Foreign Aid in American dollars. Now comes Obama with an accusation that chemical weapons were used in Syria but without producing any credible evidence as to which side used them. Apparently Obama, Biden, Kerry and the ” war whores ” McCain & Graham prefer not to allow the facts and evidence to stand in the way of removing Bashir Assad.
