Are things as straightforward as they appear? Watching a video of the Russian jet crash, I noticed a fast-moving UFO crossing the field of view. I'm just wondering if the jet fighter was really blasted by the Turks? Or, was the Turkish claim part of a cover-up for an outside intervention?

A main problem is Turkey is a member state of NATO and as such enjoys mutual defence by all the other NATO members. So Putin can't strike Turkey through military means because such provocation would be an act of war and would incur NATO military response. This would bring most of the EU, UK and USA into direct war footing against Russia (And you be sure China would join in too) Basically triggering the end stage of world war three that we are already in. It wouldn't take long at all maybe even a matter of hours before it escalates to nuclear weapons in my opinion.
So lets see what Putin does next. My guess is massive economic sanctions and penalties against Turkey, and I bet he increases the strikes on Syria 10 fold as a "fuck you" to Turkey. And rather than just attacking Assads enemies Putin might actually start attacking ISIS for real too, because it's in Turkeys interests for ISIS to exist.
I predict that Russia will inevitably end up shooting down or sinking some military assets of Turkey, perhaps Turkey may try again to shoot at Russia and the Russians will be ready this time and defend themselves. I think Russia has one of the most powerful and technologically advanced military forces in the world now. I think more fool Turkey if they keep poking the fucking bear with an American stick!
I stand with Russia on this one. Go kick their fucking ass Putin!!!
