UPDATE 1000's of artifacts seized at rural Indiana home

FBI Special Agent Robert Jones says 91-year-old Donald Miller of Waldron collected the items over eight decades and stored them in several buildings on his property about 35 miles southeast of Indianapolis. Television helicopter video showed an FBI command vehicle and several tents at the site Wednesday.

Jones says “the cultural value of these artifacts is immeasurable.” He says some items were acquired improperly, but others have been acquired legally or obtained before laws affecting them were on the books. Archaeologists are assisting agents in sorting and preserving the items.

Jones says Miller is cooperating with agents.

Miller’s home telephone number rang busy Wednesday evening.
