The Prussians, under Bismark, unified Germany after having thrashed the Danes in 1864, the Austrians in 1866 and the French in 1871, the minor German states having decided that discretion was the better part of valour. For further enlightenment on European history please read a history book, (preferably written by somebody who knows some history, not Walt Disney. Although Chitty Chitty Bang Bang does give some indications).
The above information is totally inaccurate and chronically misleading. Czechoslovakia was not formed until 1918 from Bohemia and Moravia. Yugoslavia was not formed until 1928.

Why WW1? Step 1: Forget everything you know Step 2: Look at a map of pre-WW1 Europe. Step 3: Notice the location of Serbia Step 4: Assert that Serbia (and Romania) formed a barrier. Step 5: Remove the "barrier" of Serbia, and one gets a "land bridge" between Germany and Austria-Hungary on the one side, and her potential allies of Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire on the other side. Step 6: Deduct that some powers wanted this "land bridge", and other powers wanted to avoid it…
Now, guess which powers wanted that land bridge, and guess which powers wanted to avoid it. "History" is so simple, if you look at maps every now and then 🙂
