Iranians who consider themselves to be muslims first are only found in Balochistan, Qom and Mashhad.
90% of Iranians converted to Islam for specific reasons:
*Forced conversions.
*Political benefits (i.e. Abu Muslim Khorasani)
*To improve their social status especially under early Islamic rule.
End of the day Iranians led most of the rebellions against Islamic tyranny which is why they are most hated by Muslims for simply reviving their identity and culture.
Figures such as Ferdowsi, Nahavandi, Khoramdin are what Iranians need today in order to rise again.
