Standard Hollywood garbage. Overblown script, a Madame President, a black superhero leader and his white subordinates, a dumbass nerd, brainiac women, the goofy scientist, assorted white guy buffoons, idiotic dialog, disjointed screenplay, and moronic geezers from the last movie. Then there's the standard Keystone Cops aerial dogfight, and a large African warlord who somehow "understands" the alien language & symbols. For comic relief, we have Judd Hirsch rescued by a group of wandering young kids with a stuffed animal (who stole their parents beater and drive from the east coast to Area 51 in a couple of hours). As an added touch, we have Jeff Goldblum trying to outrun the alien "Queen" through the desert in a school bus full of kids. The only thing missing was Hirsch wandering through the rubble looking for his yamulka and a jar of kosher pickles.
Species intelligent enough to travel across the galaxy would not be stupid enough to be violent. Violence is a primitive trait that holds progress back so if they are that intelligent I think they would evolve out of violence. I'm tired of every single alien movie depicting them trying to kill us. Also if they were trying to kill us, they would! It would be like marines versus cavemen lol.
Don't know why so much hate, this is a good movie true to its predecessor. I look forward to the next one. Hopefully Roland Emmerich would still be on board.

Very bad movie. The first ID was awesome, but this one just left me thinking WTF was I watching.
