Republican Senator Jeff Sessions has been confirmed as the next attorney general of the United States, surviving a bitter nomination battle against Democrat Elizabeth Warren. The Senate voted Wednesday with 52 to 47, a mostly party line vote. Sessions steps in amid the legal debate over Trump’s executive order temporarily blocking all refugee arrivals and immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries.
