World War III has been underway for quite some time. It is not going to be a nuclear war or even a conventional war. The 1% in America have almost bled the rest of America dry. Will this satisfy their greed and hunger for more? Not a chance. So how do they continue playing the game? Once they have beaten the middle class of America, they will sell our land and businesses to the foreigners with the most money. It only costs a few million to buy the American dream and get an immigration visa for you and your family now. No war, we will simply give the country away for money.
I listened to mr. Pilger's speech twice to make sure I understood his message. What I perceived was that the world now more than ever is in great danger of a nuclear war and nobody is more to blame for it than the U.S.A. and mainly the liberal democrats and the media for not doing their jobs and also I quote " Israel and the arms companies that fuel violence in the Middle East." Whenever I read or hear someone's writing or speech about people's or nation's actions, past or current and also future ones, I expect to read or hear a full account of events and not only the part that best fits the writer/speaker's agenda, no matter how righteous his cause may be. I'm not complaining nor defending one side or the other but things don't happen just because. Some actions are reactions. Some are provoked where others are not. I personally want to live in a world where peace and justice prevails for all, no exception. I don't know if such world has ever existed or if it will but the other side, the side that mr. Pilger presents as being on the receiving end of said provocations by the "rapacious superpower", it also has a not so benevolent side. It seems to me, could be wrong, that mr. Pilger is a true ideologist, a romanticist, a believer. That is laudable but a bit naive. Our history has produced notable people, true leaders willing to sacrifice everything for the advancement of humanity. Ideas tha gave way to movements that held the best of intentions only to see them turn into something completely different. How many revolutions that promised liberation from violence and injustice do we know of that have with time evolved precisely into that? The call he makes to that other elite, the thinking class is a bit sad. Here is a man that sees his life almost at an end and the champions of truth, reason, peace and justice, the Quixotes are missing and the giant is standing there unchallenged and unapologetic. What happened to the Russian literate, the promise of their youth? The Chinese cultural revolution ridding the young of the vices of the old, what happened? I heard that call myself in my country Nicaragua only to see the 'compañeros' betray themselves and the people for the comforts they could not afford without corruption. I see myself living inside a too real Animal Farm. We have lost our faith in ourselves. We the old are too jaded and the young are too busy trying to become the latest Internet sensation. So what are our options? An evil empire bent on world domination at any cost led by egomaniacs and lunatics that make promises they never meant to fulfill, be it by choice or circumstances, only to betray everyone after all? But wait that sounds pretty much like most of us then what's there left. I will venture and say : take the lesser of evils. And which is that? Therein lies the problem. This matter as much of everything that has to do with humans is not objective but subjective. My gain your loss and viceversa. What a mess.
