On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (February 8th, 2017) John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Kristian Harloff, Jon Schnepp, Asley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following:
-David Fincher wants to direct World War Z 2
-The Collector confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War
-March Madness
-Bad Boys 3 delayed 10 months; Bad Boys 4 off the schedule
-Matthew McConaughey joins stoner comedy The Beach Bum
-Jack Nicholson and Kristen Wiig to star in Toni Erdmann remake
-Sequelitis
-Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2
Yesterday came word that World War Z 2 was pulled from the schedule by Paramount Pictures and while it was rumored that David Fincher was in talks to helm the sequel for his good friend Brad Pitt, THR now reports that Fincher is actually wanting to direct the movie. A source told THR that Fincher is “very creatively interested in directing the movie,” and sparked to the idea of a movie about a man and his family navigating a zombie apocalypse. THR also reports that budget is not an issue: Fincher reportedly said he can make the film on a budget less than the original’s $190 million.
Avengers: Infinity War began filming in Atlanta two weeks ago but Marvel has not yet sent out an official press release announcing the film’s cast. But we have gotten a bunch of cast confirmations via social media and the latest reveals Benicio Del Toro reprising his role as The Collector for the upcoming event film. Shown in an Instagram live video by Josh Brolin, the future Thanos mentioned that he’d be working with Del Toro and two of the Guardians this past Tuesday — Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. Del Toro was also spotted taking pictures with some fans in the area where Infinity War is currently filming.
March Madness: March is right around the corner which means it’s almost time for the return of our March Movie Madness Tournament. This year the topic of the Tournament will be the all-time greatest movie villains! There will be 64 entrants in 4 brackets of 16. Each week, you the viewers will vote on the individual match-ups until only 1 undisputed champion is crowned.
BUY OR SELL
Thanks to a tweet from Exhibitor Relations, the third movie in the Bad Boys franchise, Bad Boys For Life, has moved off its latest release date and will now hit theaters ten months later on November 8, 2018 instead of January 12, 2018. The outlet also mentions that Bad Boys 4 – which was set for a May 24th, 2019 release back in December, is no longer on the release schedule at all.
Variety reports that Matthew McConaughey will star in the comedy Beach Bum with Spring Breakers’ helmer Harmony Korine writing and directing. The movie will follow “the hilarious misadventures of Moondog, a rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large.”
Variety reports that after 7 long years since his last feature film appearance, Jack Nicholson is back. The actor will star alongside Kristen Wiig in in the English-language remake of Toni Erdmann for Paramount Pictures; which recently acquired the remake rights to the German film. The original is written and directed by Maren Ade and follows a practical joking father who tries to reconnect with his hard working daughter.

Jeremy!! Thank you!! Finally, someone else who loves and appreciates The Map Room piece from Raiders!! That buildup to then the hitting of the high point is absolutely Epic.
I can get behind many of the Classic Spoof Movies like the Austin Powers Trilogy, Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights and The Naked Gun Trilogy. But nowadays, every time I see a Spoof Movie coming out, I can't but say "Spoof Movies are NOT Movies!"
say what you want about the force awakens and the prequels (i still dislike them, but whateves) but to me this is the walking definition of spaceballs 2: and the search for more money
I loved star wars. I was excited to hear a spoof on Starwars was coming then I hear the guys who made date movie and meet the Spartans were doing it. Hell fuck no. you give this to the guys who single handedly kill spoof movies. now I don't want this to happen at all. please let someone else do this.
if it aint spaceballs 2, dont care.
Thanks for taking my question Collider.
With this fan base, it's gonna be Hans Gruber vs Joker. Joker will win.
The Star Wars spoof probably won't even be in theaters
I really love Williams' score for Lincoln. As an historian, Lincoln buff, and film music fan, it's one of my all-time favorite scores. Just listen to "The People's House" and you will feel so inspired and patriotic.
Great episode but would have been better with 5 pundits sitting at the main table!
Dark Helmet is no contest
Seltzer and Friedberg are still given projects?! What a way to crush the hopes of younglings who are trying to get a good project off the ground
Had this on podcast on the train this morning…. I spilt my coffee on the person sat next to me on the train when John suddenly shouted FUCK YOU!!! luckily it was cold lol
Afraid of some dirt hitting Star wars? Is Star Wars that vulnerable and sooooo NOT to be ridiculed? Really? Because of what? It being so serious, dramatic and artsy? Adult swim animations proved beyond any doubt that SW franchise has an immense comedy potential. Mind you.
Lmao @ John
Sell, sell SELL. No need to remake Toni Erdmann, seriously just go watch the german original.
sorry i don't get on twitter, but Dark Helmet is s shoe in!
two simliarly iconic themes: Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean
We need a video with nothing but John ranting & screaming out curse words
So, heres the next great Lego idea that could improve on the 'normal' franchise of the same kind: Lego Transformers
I thought of this because of the mech things they have in the Ninjago trailer, and thought, hey, these guys have a good hold on things, and it could be a fun idea
Thought we already had spoof star wars films EPs 1 2 3
How many times have we seen a Star Wars parody. No thanks.
If they do a Star Wars spoof and don't call it Space Balls 2- The search for more money, I will be massively disappointed.
