If Russia is occupied with fighting NATO Putin will have his hands full. Although Russia is a great power they do not have the high tech armor like NATO and don't forget US forces are battle hardened and much more experienced than Russia Forces. I think it will be a realistic scenario that China will go after Russia's natural resources because they don't have any of their own. Russia is to much focussed on their western border while the south is very weak. China will take advantage of that.
