The FIRST and still the ONLY show in which a Sword was used as a conduit in order to channel the power to effect the Hero’s transformation against the backdrop of both Castle Greyskull and a remarkable musical soundtrack. Absolutely Brilliant!!!
Each episode starting with Prince Adam introducing himself and stating his mission I found to be smart and fantastic and still consider it to be the best cartoon introduction of all time and quite fitting as I consider He-Man to be the BEST CARTOON OF ALL TIME!!!
Also, I found the unique storylines and moral tidbits at the end of each episode very infleuncial to my personal character development as a child!
Apart from FILMATION this has never been done and I just want to say a big THANK YOU to Lou Scheimer and production crew for caring about what the children viewed on television back then.
As we see, what the children view on television today is a completely different story.

I like the television show of He-Man back in the seventies I would love to see him take on Superman are doomsday have doomsday try to get into Castle Grayskull or darkside to bring in supervillains He-Man need to be tested and the Incredible Hulk can He-Man defeat them
thank you all. he-man was my childhood. i looked forward to it everyday after school.
To bad , japanese rule all the shit now ha ha ha.
he voiced prince adams father?
– Who was the voice of He – Man?
I liked He-Man, but I loved Thundarr The Barbarian more.
thats funny the anold line becaus heman was going to be conan figures but mattel did not want to make toys based on a r rated movie so they named him heman instead
wasn't Thundar the barbarian before he-man too?
fuck Hollywood. fuck Whoopi. and fuck Donald Trump. they're all human garbage!
He-Man is probably my best childhood memory, he was my only true hero. '' I HAVE THE POWER'' 😉
What is the still clip of that cartoon at 44 seconds? used to watch forgot the name
Its funny how the directors hair looks likes He-man's hair cut
I wish I could thank all of this staff for having made my childhood a lot sweeter even in a distant country like mine. There has never been anything, anything inappropriate in this cartoon unlike many others I see nowadays.
what's a 're run? its brand new.
He-Man has a special place in my childhood memories because it was the first of the big time 80s cartoons that aired 5 days a week.
There will never be an era of cartoons like this again
just to correct the uploaded. this isn't the first installment of a show where a sword of power was used to turn a mild man into a super hero.
blackstar predated heman to name one, but they're all a rippoff of the john carter stories. they're classified as "Sword and planet stories"
5:00 the inspiration for He-Man's hair.
He mentions there was a first choice for He-Man, not Dolph. Who was this first choice, is it ever revealed?
The superficial "pro social message" was window dressing to provide cover for a half hour toy commercial. They also promote the notion that the FCC wanted to help the nation's economy by getting kids to buy lots of action figures. That is the most naked corporate welfare, to put money in the pockets of politically connected people by giving them a powerful advertising channel at the expense of children's education.
Gwen Wetzler say's she hired some concept artist's from Disney,"who where they"? "Or have I not got to that yet?"
MUY BUENO ESTE DOCUMENTAL
Blackstar was cancelled after 13 episodes because of his hispanic nature. He- Man was more "white" because of his hair color. He became the new Blackstar. Two episodes confirm this; "The remedy" which has a pink Warlock and in the episode "Temple of the Sun", a Blackstar statue (holding the Starsword) is seen next to Nepthu. Was Bravestarr atonement?
Blackstar was way cooler in my book. Klone was the best!
Please note that the Thundercats' Lion-O never used his Sword of Omens to transform himself and thusly does not qualify to be in this category!! On the other hand, however, Thundercats was another great cartoon series of the 1980's but I would still put He-Man above it!!
In reference to the video description, what about Lion-O?
Lou Scheimer was very true to his passion-keeping animation alive and well in
America! in addition to being one of the nicest people in this business, his studio
Filmation Associates,in their unfairingly short 25 year history, really made TV
animation as great and creative, matching the quality of Hanna-Barbera,and most other studios,at the time! when they went on to do "HE-MAN AND THE MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE" in 1983,Filmation entered a new chapter in their history, because they no longer did Saturday morning TV,with "GILLIGAN'S PLANET",the very last series they did for the network (CBS,1982) they were poised and ready to do something quite different,,and they did! the history with the
HE-MAN cartoons was pretty great, because as Mr Scheimer said,he kept a lot ofÂ
people employed, and showed his serious passion for the animation business, that
he worked so very hard to do and maintain. Group W,who corporately owned Filmation at the time, also benifited from Scheimer's hard work, until they made the
serious mistake of trying to tell Mr Scheimer to move his animation business overseas, which i suspect was among the many reasons why the studio had closed
down. Filmation actually did do a series overseas-"ZORRO", in Fall 1981,which they did with TMS at the time. the rest is history,,but Scheimer's studio and its works, will be seen by a whole new generation of fans, who'll take notice of these shows!
Much better than the rubbish around 2day………
Im making he-man game with sprites that look like filmation cartoon, i have gameplay vids on my channel
RIP Lou Schimer! You gave so many young kids and aspiring artists so many shows, creatures, heroes and fantastic shows to inspire us. Im sad not just of your passing but in the knowledge that today's kid's programing could NEVER move them the way YOU did! Your passing is the END to an era my friend..
